Inside Out reImagined is a fanfic by CreativityTheEmotion, spiritually growing out of her Inside Out parody series such as Andersen's Mind and attempting to provide another interpretation of the movie's plot. However, at its core, it changes so much that it would be infeasible to produce it as a parody series. The teaser chapter was first published, without any prior announcement, on August 14, 2019, with the main story following on September 5 of the same year.

Inside Out reImagined takes a serious departure from both the Disney/Pixar and parody canon, instead going for a self-contained, consistent universe with thought-out worldbuilding and deep characterization, something CreativityTheEmotion thought was lacking from the main movie and unable to be added in with parodies.

Occasionally, localities in the real world are changed: for example, now, instead of San Francisco, Riley Andersen's family moves to Shanghai, China. However, nowhere are changes more plentiful than in Riley's mind, with, for example, Dream Productions renamed to "Dream Theatrical Studios" and the Lightlines, instead of forming the Islands of Personality, connecting with each other in a structure called the "Consciousness Grid".

Character appearance descriptions, as well as personality traits, on occasion, provide stark contrasts from their Inside Out counterparts. For example, Joy is described as wearing a military-styled outfit, and to this extent, is a very domineering character in Riley's mind, even when compared to parodies. Disgust, on the other hand, wears a revealing outfit with a crop top and short shorts. This means that none of the female emotions wear dresses or skirts, reflective of Riley being a tomboy.

Much attention is given to the concept of Imagination, best described as a force of magic allowing the emotions to extensively manipulate their surroundings, being virtually unbounded by any power constraints, to the point where it gives reImagined its partial name. This concept seems to naturally stem from CreativityTheEmotion's writing about Inside Out, such as essays, that gives Bing Bong and similar creatures the collective name "Figments of Imagination"; however, the concept has not appeared in parodies prior to reImagined.
